The rocking pub legacy in Blore started in Pecos seems to have ended with Purple Haze,as all the latest ones on the block ,r too clubbish in nature with DJs ,electronic
music, door demeneours ,unwritten dress code ,n some even hosting fashion shows n model hunts of late, but only missing out on one important thing to be really called as a discotheque ,The dance floor.
As the name indicates ,its dedicated for huge die-hard rock fans .Naturally one can walk up the stairs expecting to hear quite a lot of headbanging stuff ,ranging from classic (but well not to the same depths of classiqness one can expect in Pecos, but still..) to soft rock from the likes of Dire Straits,B.Adams to new age rock like GNR,Bon Jovi,Metallica sometimes peppering with popular commercial tunes(well not boy/girl band stuffs),but dont expect too much of extreme heavy metal or instrumental rock. The jockey who cant be termed as a DJ in anyway ,but just incharge of the turntable ,eventhough is accused of being montonously repetitive in his music ,well cant be blamed ,due to the type of music this joint identifies with ,as it gives very little room for anything new to be tried out say remixes or new tracks ,as there r very few rock albums being released nowadays ,so heavily relies on retro rock flicks ,but will do a world of good if he can experiment a bit of instrumental rock.Anyway jockey is quite friendly accepting request from the public,n the best part is the videos over the screen ,adding that xtra visual appeal to the gr8 songs played. The scene grows more n more nostalgic n frenzied with a flurry of rock anthems following one another,as the evening progresses.
As for the decor n ambience ,its more on the jazzier side with leather sofas ,glass paintings of legendary rock artists like Jimi Hendrix,Santana adoring the walls and dark spooky lightings ,with miniature lights arranged in the form of some constellation in the cieling. It is simply impossible to find a place to sit over weekends ,n so be prepared for more of vertical grooving. As anywhere in Blore u can find a funloving gala crowd ranging from hip teenage college groups to IT geeks to some families. The cost of the beverages r quite resonable.
So if u have an ear for rock music, n couldnt stand the filthy atmosphere in Pecos(well it cant rock more than Pecos though, not in terms of acoustic effects but those vibes of the place) then Purple Haze is an ideal place to let loose of ur bandana ,n set the mood for the weekend. If u r openminded for more sound riot n enjoy just more than rock say house,hip-hop,garage,reggae,dance,techno ,trance, asian underground ... n looking for flashy psychedellic lights, laser n scanners, celeb crowd, whacky party themes then u can simply walk down the road for more pubhopping n have more fun n frolic, afterall there is no dearth of choices in Blore.
